This institution, founded in 1856, is today the oldest soap factory in Marseille to perpetuate the manufacture of authentic soap. An ancestral recipe transmitted by generations of master soap makers. Made exclusively with vegetable oils, with no added fragrance or coloring. Find in the store all the products: Marseille soaps, liquid soaps, home products and gift boxes. A true cultural heritage labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant and now registered as a historical monument.

Owner's Message

Founded in 1856, Fer à Cheval is the oldest and largest soap factory in Marseille. We are among the last soap factories to continue the traditional and ancestral production of Marseille soap.
For 160 years, under the expert eye of our master soap makers, we have continued to make this timeless product with tradition, meticulousness and a lot of passion according to the original recipe, certified by the Edict of Colbert in 1688.
Our soap factory is registered as a Historic Monument. Our factory represents from a historical point of view, a patrimonial interest testifying to the traditional activity of the soap industry in Marseille in the 19th century.

WITH SAVON DE MARSEILLE, quay of the port: very well located on the banks of the old port, this small shop is worth the detour. Marseille soap east star in all its forms. If you want to give an original present, do not hesitate: packages invited, small soaps holding in hand…
