7 km from Salon-de-Provence, in the preserved Costes massif, La Barben is a typically Provencal rural village known for its castle overlooking the waters of the Touloubre and the Maurel valley and for its zoo. You should also see the small Romanesque church of Saint-Jean dating from the 11th century and dedicated to Saint Sauveur. Bequeathed to the village by the Marquis Antojne Palamède de Forbin, it contains a Transfiguration by the painter Mimault dating from 1632. Your walk will take you to the mysteries of the Adane spring, reputed since antiquity for its healing properties, or continue to Pélissanne and its famous market.
