Auriol, a town of 12,000 inhabitants located 25 km from Marseille, lies at the foot of the Sainte-Baume, the Garlaban and Regagnas massifs, a veritable paradise for hiking enthusiasts. It smells like Provence on the banks of the Huveaune, whose water has always been beneficial to the local industries (oil mills, spinning mills, sawmills etc.), replaced in the 19th century by the steam engine. This old medieval village has kept its character. For a stroll, we like the covered passage in the town centre, the fountains, the ruins of the medieval castle and the clock tower which dates from the 16th century. The actor Mouss Diouf is buried in Auriol.
