More than a festival, it is the spirit of the gardians and the Camargue that explodes in Arles in a malström of colours and sounds.
Thousands of people gather in Arles from 9 am for this day of celebration of the gardians of the whole Camargue, under the patronage of their patron, Saint George. On the program: parade, blessing of the riders, high mass in Provençal and show in the arenas during which the gardians launch out in a crazy race with the cockade. That day, the Queen of Arles is elected and dresses as an Arlesian from head to toe. The whole day is quite a spectacle! Not to be missed to fully grasp the festive spirit of this region.
