It's happy, charming, outdated and crazy! Founded in 1989, the Tambourines Academy is headed by Maurice Guis. This orchestra ensemble consists of virtuosos of galoubet and tambourines. The galoubet or flûtet is a flute that one plays of the left hand, while tambourinant from the right hand on this long traditional drum which rhythms the Provençal dances and tunes. The Academy's tambourinaires followed the courses at the conservatory Darius Milhaud of Aix-en-Provence. Their cd of traditional Provence gives real desire to dance the farandole and jig! The Academy of Du, also devoted to research and publishing, publishes Academy Notebooks. The orchestra, led by Maurice Guis, plays for the great traditional festivals of the country of Aix, especially at the time of the Christmas festivities. Thus, every year, in December, the whole happens at the Théâtre de Jeu de Paume for a modest price. Do not miss when you want to discover local traditions.
