Peille had its court of low and high jurisdiction located on the place de Colle, itself decorated with a 14th century gothic fountain with a double basin. Those condemned to death were hanged on the gallows, the bases of which are still visible in the Carcaïs forest. By the Lascaris alley, one reaches the enclosure of the castle. The Palace of the Lascaris (Counts of Peille until 1789), built in the 17th century on the edge of the cliff, is still standing, while the Town Hall is housed in the old and magnificent Saint-Sébastien chapel. Its dome is covered with Roman tiles. Peille was sung by Léo Ferré, whose refuge it was.
