ENGLISH WALKWAY
Promenade des Anglais, the symbol of Nice in the world, a lively place, ideal for lovers of rollerblading and cycling
The Promenade des Anglais is THE symbol of Nice in the world. Unmissable, it extends over 7 km of waterfront following the perfect curve of the Bay of Angels.
Since the 19th century, the English have made the coastline of Nice their winter resort, offering their name to the promenade at the initiative of Reverend Lewis Way and giving Nice its cosmopolitan and aesthetic identity between sea and palm trees. At the beginning of the 20th century, the original villas lining the sea were destroyed to be replaced by the majestic buildings that can still be admired today such as the Negresco or the Palais de la Méditerranée. The Casino Jetée, which gave a special aura to the Promenade, did not have the same fate: stripped by the Germans for its copper and iron during the Second World War, it was dynamited on May 26, 1944.
Over the decades, the Promenade des Anglais has become the preferred destination for tourists in search of sunshine and locals in search of a stroll, hosting many events (carnival, marathon ...) and attracting millions of visitors each year. Grieved by the terrible attack of July 14, 2016, it was redeveloped to provide more space for greenery. Today, more lively and animated than ever, it gives appointment to lovers of rollerblading, running, cycling and walking. Its "blue chairs" and pergolas facing the sea are still just as conducive to idleness and contemplation. A mythical place.

Malheureusement, il est désormais indispensable d'être bien accompagnée pour s'y promener le soir en été, car c'est de plus en plus mal fréquenté.
Quel dommage que les chaises bleues ne soient plus en libre service...
