The Francis Gag Theatre celebrates its 25th anniversary! The only municipal theatre in Nice and one of the oldest in the city, the site offers the public a quality cultural programme that gives pride of place to the theatre without neglecting other forms of live performance

History. Inaugurated on October 6, 1989, the T.F.G. became in the 2000s a venue for dramatic arts programming by co-producing professional shows without derogating from its mission to host amateur performing arts companies. In 2007, the T.F.G. also acquired a 100m² rehearsal space and introduced attractive rental rates to allow companies with a show business licence to present their work to the public. From then on, the Francis Gag Theatre was partly dedicated to buying shows, the only venue with the Théâtre National de Nice to co-produce theatre. In 2010, in order to complete the actions carried out in favour of the performing arts, a thirty-seat auditorium will also be made available to the companies, allowing them to programme readings, intimate shows and to host training courses for actors supervised by professionals. Thanks to these different arrangements, the Théâtre Francis Gag is able to host companies in residence and to imagine new forms of collaboration with partners such as the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional in the field of training (the Rectorat for school audiences and T.N.N. with which it has collaborated on several creations).

In twenty-five years, the TFG has welcomed renowned artists, including Noëlle Perna, Georges Moustaki, Gustave Parking, Georges Descrière, Les Chevaliers du Fiel, Catherine Falgayrac, Jean-Pierre Pernaut, Nathalie Marquay, and more recently, Stéphane Rousseau..

Cultural re-entry 2014/2015. Among the highlights of the cultural season, the T.F.G. proposes to hear the mezzo-soprano from Nice, Cécile Ortoli, for an exceptional recital where she will perform works by Rossini, Mozart and Gluk, among others. The Théâtre Francis Gag will also have the chance to welcome the entire Théâtre des Lumières company for the Lautrec Cabaret, a colourful show served and directed by Isabelle Servol. In a completely different register, it will welcome for two exceptional dates, Mustapha El Atrassi, the star host of NRJ 12 in his latest stand-up and Anthony Joubert's new one-man show. Thanks to the Vis de Forme company directed by Elisabeth Piron, vaudeville will not be missing at the beginning of the season, when Léonie est en avance and C'est une femme du monde, two short plays by Georges Feydeau, will be performed. For the 12th consecutive year, the TFG will also host the "Les fourres de rire" comedy festival in Nice: as every year, this will be an opportunity for young artists from Nice to perform on stage before an informed audience. Lovers of traditional dances will be keen to appreciate Les quatre temps de Nice la Belle, the latest show by the folklore group founded by Francis Gag. Finally, Francis Gag's Théâtre Niçois will close the year with one of its jewels: The golden pignata
