As every year, the city of Menton is associated with Printemps des Poètes to offer various events in the main cultural venues of the city. These meetings will take place from 5 to 20 March, at the Jean Cocteau Museum, Séverin Wunderman collection, at the Palais de Carnolès Fine Arts Museum and at the Odyssée municipal library.

Through poetic creations, poetry readings, lectures, conferences, events and shows, one hundred years of poetry will be celebrated with "Le Grand 20è" of the 18th edition of the Printemps des poètes (Poets' Spring).

"We can now say that the 20th century was a major century of poetry for our country and the French-speaking world. After the Dadaist and Surrealist explosion that produced an unprecedented formal invention and re-founded the existential and subversive stakes of poetry, perhaps never before has so many works been produced that are considerable in their scope and singularity". Jean Pierre Siméon

The students of the drama class of the municipal conservatory will deliver their precious booty collected during the miraculous fishing in the teeming panorama of the poets of the 20th century.

Saturday, March 19 at 3 p.m. - L'Odyssée Bibliothèque municipale

The magic of the verb by the Arthélème company is a very atypical animation-show built around the fables of La Fontaine.

After asserting that cinema was not invented by the Lumière brothers but by La Fontaine, an actor, equipped with various high-tech instruments, demonstrates the miracle of this ingenious poetic work by systematically using the grammar and vocabulary of cinema. Digital tablets, video projector and mini-speakers all contribute to the (re)discovery of this unique art form, which reveals, with incredible refinement, the film of the great century. The aim of the project is to show that access to these masterpieces (and to poetry in general) is as easy as that of the cinema... as long as you have the right keys!
