The village of l'Escarène has kept its medieval village intact as well as some very beautiful houses. The origin of its name is perhaps taken from the decadent Latin word "escarena", which means "confluence of two rivers". This is probable, because the village was established at the confluence of two rivers, the Paillon de Lucéram and the Redebraus. When visiting, do not miss the church of Saint-Pierre-Es-Liens, a baroque work built in 1646 with its 2 chapels and its sumptuous facade classified as a historical monument which houses the Grinda brothers' organ of 1791, a witness to French organ building in the county of Nice in the 18th century, also declared a historical monument.
