Aspremont is perched at an altitude of more than 500 metres, dominating the Var valley. It offers a magnificent panorama from the mouth of the river to the entrance of the Vésubie gorges and the Estéron valley, as well as on the sea. In ancient times, the village was a refuge for the Ligurian people and then became the border post between France and the Savoy States in the Middle Ages: the colourful facades of the houses, the flowered staircases or the passages and porches remind us of this period. In 1860, the inhabitants voted to join France. In 1874, the hamlets of Colomars and Castagniers voted to separate from Aspremont.
