Historically, the village was created on a crossing point of the Verdon. But Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon's destiny changed in 1973, when the lake that bears its name was filled with water. Until then isolated on its rocky promontory, it has since seen tourism take precedence over other forms of activity. Mostly restored in the Provencal tradition, this pretty village built on the hillside is now a relatively busy resort offering mainly water sports activities. The general view of the whole lake from the village is simply sublime and worth the detour alone.
