La Bréole is a delegated commune of Ubaye-Serre-Ponçon following its merger on1 January 2017 with the commune of Saint-Vincent-les-Forts, to form the new commune of Ubaye-Serre-Ponçon. The village of La Bréole is located at an altitude of 998 m and overlooks the lake of Serre-Ponçon. The commune is limited to the west by the Gorges de la Blanche, which form the border with the Hautes-Alpes. Before the Roman conquest, la Bréole is a city of the Edenates. In its history, an Iron Age tomb, containing a sword, was discovered in the 19th century. In the hamlet of Les Masses, there are several old houses, one of which has a dovecote, quite atypical.
