Charming little Provencal village, Barrême stands at an altitude of 722 metres. Served by the Train des Pignes, it is located about a hundred kilometers from Nice and only 30 kilometers from Digne-les-Bains, it guards the entrance to an area of open relief, where the valley of the Asse is divided into several confluent valleys. Its relief contrasts with that of the gorges that the valley crosses further downstream. On the edge of the N85, a house with an inscription reminds us that Napoleon spent the night of 3 March 1815 here. In the middle of a green setting, this charming little village has a pretty 12th century chapel. Enjoy the peace and quiet during your walk.
