On the banks of the Vaïre river, at an altitude of about 700 m, this charming village was established with a double appearance: that of the mountains, with the Alps, and that of Provence. The first inhabitants of the town were certainly also the first of the valley. Surrounded by these strange sandstone formations, the Annotans were in fact and above all on the Roman road that linked Nice-Cimiez to Digne, via Riez. These unexpected groupings of rocks sculpted by erosion, chaotic, disordered, whole or cut arches, promise us beautiful walks in the middle of nature. It is also called more confidentially "the paradise of the painters".
