The village of Thurageau is part of the Communauté de communes du Haut-Poitou and is about 30 km from Poitiers. It is worth a visit for the six Merovingian rock-cut tombs discovered in the 1960s. In the surrounding hamlets, among which the population of the village is distributed, one can still find old stone constructions from the Middle Ages. Some buildings, like the church of Saint-Pierre, are characteristic of the Romanesque and Gothic styles of the 12th and 13th centuries
