The commune of Saint-Julien-l'Ars has survived the centuries. Located on an ancient Roman road from Poitiers to Bourges, traces of Gallo-Roman occupation have been discovered as well as a Merovingian cemetery near the church. The Cléret family built the castle there (17th-18th century), whose keep can be admired and is listed as a historical monument. It benefits from a dynamic network of associations offering regular events to the inhabitants and to people passing through the area. For a short walk, follow 'Sur les pas de Jules', an itinerary that allows us to discover the history of the Vienne at the bend of the paths!
