With the Vienne River at its foot and rock shelters, Queaux has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The village features remains from the Gallo-Roman era. Ancient thermal baths have been revealed. Although the baths have been reduced to ruins, a superb sculpted stone column has survived the ages. There's also the dynamic Plage du Renard, with its playground, swimming, guinguette and free concert on Fridays. From May to October, take the chain ferry, the Passeur du gué, to Persac. Several footpaths allow you to hike in the surrounding area. And depending on events, you can visit the Château de Chamousseau.
