The commune of Montamisé is part of Grand Poitiers. With its Moulière forest of almost 7,000 hectares, a former hunting estate of the Dukes of Aquitaine, it represents a nature getaway close to the big city, with many hiking trails to explore. If the main town, where the bell tower of the Notre-Dame church stands, is located on the heights, nine other scattered villages make up the commune (Charassé, Ensoulesse, Fontaine, La Germonière, La Richardière, Le Petit Nieul, Mortier, Sarzec and Tronc). The Maison de la Forêt, located in Grand Recoin, is both a place of information about the forest and an educational center.
