Botanical garden of the University of Poitiers, home to well-known and forgotten species, medicinal and aromatic plants
A real open-air museum is how this property of 33 hectares can be presented with a multitude of known and forgotten species. From the entrance, you walk in the colourful alleys of the rose rose. Then the arboretum reveals oaks, maple trees, viornes, lilas… and then by doing a few steps is the space of the fruit trees as well as the vegetable garden you discover. Further afield, we fall into a vast collection of medicinal and aromatic plants… and even toxic plants, caution! In both ponds, in addition to frogs, aquatic plants elected home. You see the beautiful building? It dates back to the th century and is now home to the administrative offices. The botanical garden is part of the heritage of the University of Poitiers and 9 hectares are dedicated to research. On the Deffend area near Campus, it is an ideal place for walks.
