On the threshold between Poitou and Touraine, the commune of Les Ormes has a lot of charm. While its history is linked to that of its château, an exceptional monument, it is also home to a number of other pleasant places. The town hall is a handsome bourgeois house dating from 1871, built of Chauvigny tuffeau and limestone. At its foot is a 1.5-hectare park with many rare tree species. The Saint-Martin-et-Sainte-Marguerite church is well worth a visit, as are the Halles and the Bergerie. Take a stroll along the banks of the Vienne and see the wash-house. Don't miss the Poste aux Chevaux, created by the Comte d'Argenson in 1764.
