Located 13 km south of Poitiers, the commune of La Villedieu-du-Clain is made up of rolling plains and wooded areas Formerly a Templar commandery, it is home to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church which has been classified as a historical monument since 1907. The building with its Romanesque façade dates from the 12th century and the nave was rebuilt in the 19th century.
