Located around 7 kilometers from Lussac-les-Châteaux, the commune of Gouex has just under 500 inhabitants. It offers a number of sites of interest. The church of Saint-Médard dates back to the Romanesque period, but was dismantled and reassembled in the 19th century. All that remains of the original façade are a few modillions. Nearby, take a look at the 17th-century aqueduct, which brought water from the Lac de Goberté to the old forges to cool the blast furnaces. These forges were used to reduce iron ore between the 17th and 19th centuries. Visit the small village of Les Bordes, which has preserved some of its 16th-century houses.
