Until the Middle Ages, Cherves was an ancient cannabusum, a place planted with hemp, a chènevière which gave it its name. Towards the end of the Middle Ages, the ground was cleared to allow the construction of houses, but the small town kept its botanical name. For more than 35 years, the Association les Gens de Cherves has been animating the village every summer by organizing semi-nightly walks enriched with stories, anecdotes, music and recipes to be tasted. She multiplies her efforts to keep the museum alive, as well as the windmill Tol classified as a historical monument and recently restored thanks to the association. Let's salute her for her implication!
