Ayron has a long history of traffic, with a Roman road (Poitiers-Nantes) crossing the commune 2,000 years ago... The village has been occupied since at least the 6th century. The 15th and 16th century Château d'Ayron, set in a pleasant park overlooking the Vandelogne river, remains from this distant past. In the park, admire the black locust tree, the tallest and most imposing of its kind in Vienne, and enjoy the children's playground.
