The first mention of Archigny dates back to the year 1000. The area's livelihood depended on livestock farming, as well as mills (up to 11, 9 of which were water-powered, including the Chavard mill, which remained in operation until the 1960s), with the river Ozon running through the countryside. This is a land of brandes, with a rich natural heritage. Several hiking trails criss-cross the surrounding area. The Près de La Fontaine lake boasts an arboretum, games... In terms of industrial heritage, the former dairy has been transformed into a third-living space (bar, resource center, etc.). The Acadian line marks the territory, and later the demarcation line cut the village in two.
