Listed as one of France's most beautiful villages since 2005, Angles-sur-l'Anglin is well worth a visit. The Roc-aux-Sorciers interpretive center displays traces of life as it was lived by our ancestors 15,000 years ago: a unique testimony to prehistoric cave art. But the village also owes its reputation to its medieval past. A small town of character, with steep streets and the Anglin River below, it is topped by an 11th-century fortified castle. The town is also renowned for its embroidery, with the famous "Jours d'Angles" technique, a specific feature of the local heritage that originated in the 19th century and whose know-how is maintained and shared.
