Visit of a church in Thouars, preserving a facade of Romanesque style from Poitou, and offering a panorama on the Thouet and the bridge
The emblematic building of Thouars. Although it has kept its Poitevin Romanesque facade and its poly-lobed north portal (12th century), it was largely redesigned until the 16th century. Among its treasures, an 18th century altarpiece attributed to the abbey of Chambon. Just opposite is the timber-framed house of the Artists (XVth), saved in extremis in 1930. From there, go down to the Notre-Dame chapel-collegiale via the streets Imbert and du Château, where small houses and grand private mansions stand side by side. The panorama on the Thouet river and the Chouans bridge is breathtaking.

Pittoresque quartier avec ses maisons médiévales aux façades à colombage. Promenade très agréable dans la rue Saint-Médard et ses environs.

Il est bien agréable de se promener dans ces rues du vieux Thouars et découvrir maisons, église et autres vestiges de la vieille époque. Quartier très calme qui a perdu de son activité car si il était prospère au XV et XVI siècles il ne l'est plus vraiment car beaucoup de boutiques sont fermées et ont rejoint malheureusement la grande zone commerciale extérieure.
