Local capsFrom the th century, the wearing of the cap becomes very fashionable on holiday days and the movement spreads rapidly throughout the national territory. At the time around Saint-Maixent-the School, there are two types of caps. The "Crèchoise" cap first, which had a broad and slightly oval background. These ladies then fell into a small movement (called fooled) their well wild hair on each side of the skate. There was also the "Mothaise" cap that was worn by the women of Mothe-Saint-Héray, which gave them a slender look. Topped with a knot and ribbons floating in the back, this coiffe in embroidered tulle and adorned with lace was mounted on a conical cardboard cap. The caps port reached its peak at the end of the th century, before the caps were gradually falling into oblivion and were finally abandoned after the First World War. Women then put themselves out "in hair" as they were saying at the time.
