From Pratius, rich and notable picton, or from the Latin pratium, floodable wet meadow - Prahecq is the source of the Fiée des Lois spring, fiefdom of the eponymous bottler. 1241-1242: the site is hit by the outbreak of the Hundred Years' War. Hughes X de Lusignan, leader of a coalition allied with the Plantagenets, denounced his allegiance to the Capetians. The royal punitive offensive destroys several estates, including Château de Prahecq. This is the birthplace of André Nocquet (1914-1999),1st French aikido master, trained in Japan by his creator. Worth seeing: the Butte au Peu (76 m), born of Gargantua's depatture, the action of unscouring one's boots, and the Fosse de paix, an artesian well.
