On the banks of the Sèvre Nantaise, this commune has joined the Communauté d'Agglomération du Bocage Bressuirais. In 2017, it was awarded the "deux fleurs" label by the Conseil national de villes et villages fleuris. Its sumptuous château is listed on the supplementary inventory of historical monuments. It was burnt down during the Vendée wars. The Marquis de La Rochejaquelein restored it. It was then owned, among others, by the Comte de Rohan-Chabaud, who bought it back in 1855. At the end of the 19th century, it was bought by a wealthy industrialist, whose descendants now occupy the premises. Privately owned, it is unfortunately not open to the public.
