A pretty village of around 900 souls, located around ten kilometers from Niort, in the direction of Saint-Jean-d'Angély. Granzay-Gript has only officially existed since 1972, when two communes merged. Granzay, first mentioned in 1218, was a wine-growing site until the arrival of phylloxera in the 19th century. Gript, a passing hamlet on the Grand-Route, had only a few rustic inns. Here you'll find an astonishing polar sundial, an imposing structure built in 1982, weighing 170 t and standing 5.25 m high! Several trails await you, either on foot or by bike, including the Granzéenne, a signposted (blue) 13 km loop.
