The charming Gourgé is located near the leisure centre of the Cébron lake (in Saint-Loup-Lamairé). You can admire beautiful examples of medieval and Renaissance architecture, the 12th-13th century church of Saint-Hilaire with its beautiful stained-glass windows, the Hosannière cross where the Palm Sunday festival was held, and the 15th century Chaussée dwelling. The Saint-Hilaire path, a Roman road linking Poitiers to Nantes, leads you to the archaeological site where prehistoric and Gallo-Roman artefacts have been discovered. A 4 km walk, starting from the Romanesque bridge, leads you to these curiosities: the opportunity to see the old forge and the underground of the cure.
