Its restored wash houses and fountains are real little public monuments. Frontenay-Rohan-Rohan, a small town of 3,000 inhabitants, bordered by the Courance and Guirande rivers, is situated about 11 km from Niort, in the direction of La Rochelle. In the shadow of the Saint-Pierre church, its history was one of the most tormented, as the inhabitants of the village will tell you. It is from the lineage of the Marshal of France Pierre de Rohan that the town takes its name. The latter married his cousin Anne de Rohan in the 16th century. The visitor will discover the few vestiges of its castle and its double enclosure, but it can however stroll in the communal park of the Grand Logis.
