Exoudun has remained surprisingly intact, as has its enamelled Michelin signage. Although it was a strong commercial centre, linked to the mining activity of the surrounding area, all that remains of this dynamic past are some old stones. An itinerary leads you to these wonders through a maze of alleys used by a handful of inhabitants and cats: mullioned windows, Templar traces, the Renaissance dwelling of Boissec, lapidary inscriptions, the Bouillonnante fountain... In the distance, the powerful 12th century fortress towers over you (privately), with its machicolations removed (by Richelieu). On the Véloroute 94, 4 km from La Mothe-saint-Héray.
