A land of gentle pastures that doesn't count for much! Echiré has represented excellence in the conception of churned fruit since its dairy was set up in an old mill in 1894. The world-famous dairy is not the only attraction of this small town, crossed by the GR 36. You can explore the banks of the Sèvre, the countless surrounding castles, bucolic ruins and Romanesque churches... In summer, it's great fun to take part in the Médiévales de quintilis et sextilis, to relive the Hundred Years' War. Echiré, with a population of around 3,500, lies some 10 km north of Niort, in the direction of Parthenay.
