Peaceful commune with 12 villages, Azay-le-Brûlé. Some sites of interest are hidden there. The Roman bridge, located on the Gallic road Chevaleret (still visible), is the starting point of hiking or horseback riding (facilities for vans and horses). It is also a place of fishing very appreciated by the inhabitants. The Romanesque church of Saint-Barthélemy, attached to the abbey of Saint-Maixent in the 11th century, and the Benedictine priory of the same name, built around 1300, were fortified in the 15th century and then equipped with a cloister. The vernacular architecture is delightful, peasant hamlets, wash houses, cemeteries, castles to discover as you stroll along
