The Grand-Port d'Arçais, dominated by the grand Logis (privately owned, its builder planted poplar trees in the Marais Poitevin in the 19th century), its 11 warehouses and 2 wooden cranes, was a flourishing commercial center until the early 20th century. This small, picturesque town of 650 inhabitants blends narrow canals and unspoilt conches, where the green of the duckweed brings out the blue of the boats. These meanders are lined with barns, remarkable for their architecture dedicated to agricultural tasks. Take a look at the 19th-century Saint-Cyr church and its unusual hooks, where firefighters used to hang their hoses, before discovering the local crafts.
