On the edge of salt water, Yves is the most'Nordic'in the country. In the hamlet of the Boucholeurs, we cultivate and collect mussels (bouchots: wood piles on which the molluscs are set). Here, no industries but small family businesses and a beautiful atmosphere. In the hamlet of Voutron, we are more rural and we have preserved and restored beautiful farms and houses of the th and th centuries. In the marsh, a 194 hectare natural reserve was created along the sea, managed by the Bird protection league. This is the domain of curlew, avocets, oystercatchers, plovers and other white storks.A few kilometres from Châtelaillon-beach, the Natural Reserve of the Marais d'Yves welcomes you all year round for exploring nature. Located on one of the main routes of migration and by its configuration, the Natural reserve of the Marais d'Yves is one of the Atlantic coast sites where wildlife observation is the easiest. Vaseux foreshore, dunes and lagoons, swamps and beds, wet meadows, haies hedges, groves and filled… A beautiful mosaic of environments settled on this small corner of coastline, welcoming a multitude of animal and plant species… You can even observe the nesting of white storks!
