10 km south of Rochefort and the ocean, you will find the commune of Saint-Agnant. Its heritage and environment, made up of marshes, justify a stopover near the famous destinations of the Charente. Already around the year 1000, it was a fishing village also known for its salt marshes before the ocean retreated. The remains of the abbey (or priory) of Montierneuf are the most noble of the town's heritage assets. Along the lanes and paths, many fountains and wash houses still reflect the rich hydrography of the territory. For hikers, the velodyssey passes through here!
