The small and charming town of Sablonceaux is worth a stop, especially for its beautiful abbey founded in 1136 by Duke William X of Aquitaine. Surrounded by meadows and forests, it is famous throughout the region. The village also has many traditional Saintongean houses, known as "Charentaises", and a small dolmen in the Fontaine-Jaune wood. Another heritage, the Château du Mortier (17th century), which was owned by the squire Samuel Joubert. The building retains some elements of this period, but was remodeled during the 19th century.
