THE BALD SPOTLIGHT

When you cross the bridge, you will probably want to go to the Baleines lighthouse. But don't miss the Chauveau lighthouse. If you can't visit it, this monument is worth a look because it is the only lighthouse in the open sea of Charente-Maritime! Built under the reign of Louis XIV, it signals the dangers of the coasts and guides the ships. This white and red tower may seem very thin to resist the waves, but it has never collapsed. The place is ideal for fishing on foot, it is a well-known spot for clam lovers.
