This village is full of charm. The old barge port was active until the 19th century, before the arrival of the railroad, which marked the decline of the commune. It was used to transport the famous Crazannes stone, used in many buildings such as Fort Boyard and Cologne Cathedral, as well as salt, wine and the famous pottery of La Chapelle-des-Pots. Don't miss the Saint-James causeway, built on an ancient Roman road. With its 22 arches, including 3 original vaulted ones, it provided a bridge over the Charente to Taillebourg. It is used as a traffic artery in times of flooding.
