Overlooking the Gironde estuary, Meschers (pronounced Méché) is an exceptional site. In the surrounding cliffs, natural cavities, shaped and fitted out by man, served as a refuge for persecuted protestants. Equipped with chimneys, supplied with running water by seepage, these shelters later became dwellings like any others, just a little more original... Here, the ocean is omnipresent, during a walk to the port on the quays lined with restaurants, lying on the sand of one of the five beaches or during a walk in the square of the Guicharde. The view is splendid, the ocean stretches as far as the eye can see.
