Its history began to be written in Roman times with the creation of a road near which there is a mention of a "Espitau de Peyrenere", probably the last stop on the road to Santiago de Compostela. In the 16th century, the parade of Urdos was blocked by a fort, Lou Pourtalet, where a toll was to be paid. From 1823 to 1824, Alfred de Vigny was billeted there. The current fort has belonged to the community of communes of the valley since 1999. Ministers of the Third Republic were imprisoned there and, in 1945, Marshal Pétain. Located at an altitude of 760 metres, Urdos attracts green tourism lovers and sportsmen, hikers and other mountain sports enthusiasts (mountain biking, trailing...).
