Petit Futé's opinion on THE BIG CLOCK

With the three towers, it is the most symbolic monument of the Old Port. Once the gateway to the old city, the Grosse Horloge has not lost its two main functions: to give access to the shopping streets and to display the time. In fact, in the 15th century, it was equipped with a clock, allowing the inhabitants to know the time. Two arcades allowed the circulation of carriages until 1672. Later, the original pepperpot roofs were replaced by an ornate dome. Streetcars used to use it to go to the La Pallice district!
