Jonzac appears for the first time in history in the middle of the 11th century, but the town has always been populated, as evidenced by the many remains found: Gallo-Roman villa, Merovingian necropolis. The region of Jonzac is located in the middle of the "border country" during the Franco-English conflicts (1337-1453) and only really takes off in the 15th century. It is part of the route of the hundred most beautiful detours of France, the flowered city is also known for its natural environment, with the Seugne river which crosses it. From the river to the town centre, passing through the medieval alleyway, walkers have a setting that is ideal for strolling.
