Nestled in a green setting, Fontcouverte has a lot of charm. The Saints are not mistaken there and elect residence there, it is enough of a few minutes to join the downtown area. Composed of woods, meadows and valleys, the commune can be proud to have on its land the remains of the Roman aqueduct (see box above) which supplied running water to the town of Saintes. It is indeed in Fontcouverte that the Romans made their first catchments because of the nature of the subsoil. Numerous small streams feed the wash houses of the commune, the village still has eight of them, remarkably well restored. Nice walks through the village and the surrounding woods to the golf course.
