The small town, a real gateway to the Marais Poitevin, is part of the Communauté de Communes Aunis Atlantique which includes 20 communes. Equidistant from La Rochelle, Rochefort and Niort, the town was once known for its livestock fairs, and today it is known for its green setting, exceptional thanks to its proximity to the Benon forest. Situated on the edge of the Aunis plain, this beautifully renovated little town was built around a square shaded by chestnut trees, on one of the highest points in the region, at an altitude of 25 metres. As you stroll around, you will notice the church with its surprisingly crenellated bell tower.
