Located in the heart of the Charente, Chaniers is a highly touristic area, between land and sea. If Chaniers is sometimes nicknamed "the town of a hundred villages", it benefits from many assets allowing it to be an attractive town at the gates of Saintes. Bordered by the Charente, Chaniers has become a sought-after commune. The town centre, located near the river, is organised around the Place Saint-Pierre, where the church is located. Historians insist on the historical past of the town in close connection with pottery, because the neighboring village, La Chapelle-de-Pots was a large center of medieval production.
